We meet so many 'Accountants', 'Payroll Managers', 'Customer Service Agents', 'Administrators', 'MD's', 'Developers' etc. What I should have had the courage to say was "I lead a team who provide first-class customer service". I can remember once being asked what I do and my answer was to shrug my shoulders and say "Customer Services". We are so much more than our job title tells others about us! Thinking this way leads to insignificance and us aiming for mediocrity. Think about how many people we meet both in work and outside of work and when the introduction comes it sounds like "I'm Tim, I'm an L&D Manager". Why is it that all of us will challenge us being treated as a 'number' yet we're happy to be considered as a 'job title'? I think the saying should be:.
